It Comes to This

~~~~ Okay
It's been a while since I've been here. I think almost a month has gone by since I've last posted. I don't know why. I haven't taken any amazing trips since Luxor and Aswan. Maybe that's why. Maybe because I only have 19 days left here and that realization is starting to get really scary. I've been doing some great stuff since I last posted. We went down to the Red Sea Monasteries and a Coptic Monk named Maxum cooked the best lunch for us that I have ever tasted. J-Swan took us to the pyramids and Abu-Sir. Sasha and I went back to Khan al-Khalili and I got my grandma this beautiful pearl box and a lotus charm. I'm almost done with presents for people. I learned Worry Beads only cost 5 pounds so I think that's what everyone's getting. I think I'll get Daddy Worry Beads, an Evil Eye pendent, and some form of Egyptian food. I'm not sure what yet. I've also been to the Hard Rock Cafe twice for dessert. The food there isn't spectacular but the dessert is to die for. I also got my Hard Rock shirt so I'm happy. Actually I've been spending a lot of time watching Smallville. I know, I'm in a fabulous new country and I'm watching TV shows. It's sad really but it's comforting. Everyone's just so busy with papers and projects and I'm so good at time managment that I finish before everyone else. I have to have something to do. I also went to see a movie here for the first time. Spider-man 3. It was exciting because we got to see it here before it was released in the states. And they say Egypt is behind the times. That's so not true! They even ignore holding laws and release their movies early! Hahaha. Tomorrow's Mother's Day. I went on a flower website and ordered Mom a coffee basket. It was kinda last minute but it should get there a little after Mother's Day. I'll call Mom tomorrow too. Next weekend I'm going down to Middle Egypt with J-Swan. He's taking us to all sorts of sights we would never be able to get to on our own so yay for J-Swan! Originally he was gonna take us to Amarna (the city of Akhenaten) but none of the other Egyptology professors wanted to go. Booo. Oh well, he's taking us to the Lisht pyramids and that means I've been to almost all the pyramid complexes in Egypt. Quite an accomplishment all things considered. I can't believe my time here is almost over. I really do love Egypt. I know I say that all the time but there's something about Egypt that's just so... comforting.
