I GOT IN!!!

~~~~ Ecstatic
I got my letter today... I got into Miami University!!!
You have no idea what this means to me! I'm not really capable of any great academic feats. I mean sure, *gasp* I get above a 3.3. Not that big of a deal. And I only applied to two colleges. I think Chanda thought I was crazy because of this. She's a genious and applied to like 7 colleges. But I'm into Miami and that's all that matters right now! I really want to go to Gettysburg, moreso then Miami but Gettysburg'll be more of a reach for me. So knowing that at least someone wants me is an awesome feeling.
Well, that's all I have time for today. I need to get some food, coffee, then head to my Marine Biology class...
I'M COLLEGE-BOUND!!!
I Really Should Be Reading
~~~~Tired

What a week! I'm so glad it's almost over. It may have gone by fast but at the same time it took forever. I did so much... almost too much in the course of four days. But it's almost over and since I don't have a speech tournament this weekend... *throws confetti* it should be a relatively enjoyable weekend. Chanda and I will probably see Phantom of the Opera and we might go up to Legacy Village to get her an iPod mini too. Although, I'll be driving! Her car isn't really in the best of condition right now. Darwin Jr. will fit this situation just fine!

So the only homework I have left now is to read The Iliad and my Humanities book. We're on book 5 in the Iliad (right in the think of the goary battle) and chapter 4 of my Humanities book (the Greeks). I'm not a big fan of the Greeks... maybe it's because I always am more sensitive toward the Trojans during the Trojan war but the Greeks did start the first democratical society (Athens to be exact), Homer was Greek (the Odyssey and the Iliad are great works), and they were a Pagan society... gotta stand up for that! I do tend to like the Romans better. I might just really like Aenas though... come on! He battled with Troy, was the founder of Rome, and was the son of Aphroditie... aka GORGEOUS! Oh if only I could see him now... I bet he'd look something like this...

*Tee-hee!*

You Know What's An Amazing Movie?

~~~~Lazy
Troy! It's one of the bestest movies ever! I bought it on Friday and I can't stop watching it. I can't believe people think Alexander the Great is a better movie! It has no plot while Troy is all about love! *Sigh* it's sooo beautiful. I mean, just look at him...
I'm normally not a Brad Pitt obsessor but he was amazing in Troy. The love story of Achilles and Briseis is swoonable (yes, I'm making that a word). I know Troy is "historically inaccurate" to the true Iliad story. I mean, Menelaus dies, Achilles lives to see the sack of Troy, Helen stays Helen of Troy and doesn't go back to Sparta. But then again, it's a myth anways and no one knows what truly happend. So we can tell the story anyway we see fit (in my opinion).
I might also be obsessed with Troy right now. Between the movie, the book I read (the Firebrand), and reading the Iliad in Latin II I'm getting my overdose of Trojans. It's still totally ok with my though! Once I finish the Iliad I'll have to sit down and evaluate all three stories. See which one I like the best... then again,the other two can't compete with the movie... Orlando Bloom, Sean Bean, Bradd Pitt, AND Eric Bana! It's perfect... well, it does need Dom ;)
I finished my Humanities! I never thought I'd do that... Humanities was suppose to be my "blow-off class" but it's more work then even expos. That may also be because I'm very passionate about the topics we're discussing. Ancient Greece up to the Renaissance, this should be enlightening for me and it should help me prepare for next year (major in cultural Anthropology). But I didn't do my Marine Biology (bad Elentári). Oh well, I still have after school tomorrow... Muddy Waters is open again tomorrow so I think I'll go hide down there.. after LOVELY speech of course. But I'll survive if coffee's on the other end of the deal!
My Review of "The Firebrand"
~~~~Okily Dokily

I just finished my book... that could be it. I was reading The Firebrand by Marion Zimmer Bradley. It was pretty good. I've also read The Mists of Avalon by the same author and I can't decide which I like better. I think there are several reason someone would lean more towards one or the other.

First of all both books are written in the same viewpoint. Both books contain the main character who is the daughter of royalty but chooses a religious path as a priestess. Both have unatainable love interests, mothers who don't undstand them, other female-kin who do, and both lose their entire family by the end of the books. Also, both main characters are fierce feminists, rebels, and head priestesses.

The Mists of Avalon centers around Morgaine, daughter of Igraine, but after her father dies she is adopted by Igraine's new husband. They give birth to Arthur, thus making Morgaine Arthur's half-sister. The rest of the book centers around Morgaine's life, her involvement of kinging Arthur, and her struggle with being a Pagan in an arising Christian world.

The Firebrand is a story about Kassandra, daughter of Priam and Hecuba and her involvement with the Trojan war. She's the twin sister of Paris (you know the one who brought Helen over thus starting the entire war). Everyone thinks she's mad because the Gods keep sending her visions of Troy being destroyed.

Morgaine loves Lancelot (who is in love with Gwynhefar who is married to Arthur... twisted!) while Kassandra loves Aeneas (her sister's husband). Both Morgaine and Kassandra's mothers are weak and timid while they are strong. Morgaine becomes a priestess of Avalon while Kassandra is sent to live with the fierce Amazon-warrior women. Morgaine finds guidance in Vivianne her aunt and Kassandra finds Prothessila (didn't spell that right) her aunt to be her mentor.

So, as you can see, there are a lot of similarities in these books. Obviously you know Troy falls in the end of "The Firebrand" (and if you didn't know that you need some culture) but I won't say what happens at the end of "The Mists of Avalon". I liked "Mists" better because it helped me decide I loved the Gods and Goddesses and I wanted to be a Pagan. But I also like the story of Troy and all the characters in it more then the story of King Arthur. "Mists" is better written... it seems more thought out but "Firebrand's" fight scenes are more intense and exciting.

I guess it's a tie. It all depends on what matters the most to you in a book. I suggest reading them both! You won't be sorry!

Rant of the Apple

~~~~Blah
What a do-nothing day! I woke up at 10:30 but stayed in bed because Muppet's Treasure Island was on tv! Then I barely got dressed (I did change into jeans but I still have one of my boyfriend's shirts on... they're what I wear to bed). I've read, watched tv, and sat on the computer. Right now I'm debating about buying the Wicked CD from iTunes. I still have $20.07 left from the holidays and I've kind run out of music I want. I think I'll wait though. You never know what might spring up. For instance, I have no intention of seeing that new movie Elektra. But, I saw a promotion for the album to the movie and it has new Evanescence and Jet songs. I got a Sam Goody gift card from an aunt in December and I think I'll use it for that.
Do you like my mouse today? He has no face... *tee-hee* That amuses me for some reason... don't ask why. I think I'll go through my cd's and see if there are any other songs I want to put on my iPod mini. Andrew thinks I'm apple obsessed now and I was beginning to think he may be right but I changed my mind again. See, the last time I went to the apple store I was looking at laptops and I absolutley fell in love with the 12'' one. It was so small and cute! And the more I thought about it the more I thought it'd be perfect for college next year. But then yesterday I was at the high school for the Speech and Debate tournament and I had moved an iMac to the booth for my enjoyment during the slow parts of the tournament and it and I did not get along. First, I tried to install iTunes onto witht the disk my iPod mini came with. I couldn't figure it out! I asumed it was just because I only install programs onto PC's and I just didn't know how to. No biggy. So I went online to just download it. The iMac wouldn't let me download iTunes... an apple application! So I tried to download Snood. That didn't work either! I just kept getting errors and the internet would shut down or I'd download this file with no application to run it on. Now, I'm back to hating apples. They might have been on the right track with their music devices but their computers are terrible! I love PC's, I love them, I love them...
I hope I haven't offended anyone who is obsessed with apples but they don't like me and I don't like them and I don't think this relationship will change anytime soon!
Road Trip!!!
~~~~ Thoughtful

Who had the best Wednesday ever? Oh me! Yesterday I got up at 8:30 and picked up Chanda at 9:00. We went to Muddy Waters for Coffee and then took off on route 30 towards Columbus. Our first stop? Dublin. What did we encounter? 109 6 feet tall concrete ears of corn! We made two friends there. Chanda named her friend Ferdinand and I named mine Herman. After we parted from our corn friends we found 3 twenty feet tall rabbits made out of scrap-metal. We even found a little troll doll on one of the rabbit's feet. In the same area that we found the rabbits we also found some strange statue of a building that could have possibly been a replica of the Alamo. We continued on to Springfield where a man had made a small village out of pebbles during the Great Depression. They were very interesting but it was in the back yard of a house and the man seemed a little suspicious of us when we asked to look around but oh well! It was still fun to look around. Our last stop was the best stop however because it involved a giant Jesus. In Monroe there's this horrible gawdy church that has the largest Jesus you'll ever see. It's right on highway 75 and next door to a pay by the hour motel. Fabulous!

We actually ended our road trip around 2:00 and we figured we had some time to kill before we should head home so we went the additional 45 minutes to Oxford and I showed Chanda Miami. I also needed my digital camera cable so I could get the pictures on the computer. Bell Tower was closed though so Chanda couldn't experience a smoothie *tear*. After that we went home. I made it back to Wooster all by myself. So that means I am capable of getting to Oxford and I shouldn't ever be worried about it when I get my car. Next year. No one can stop me! It was really weird to just stop by campus and then head home. It was also really weird because I know that I will be back there in three days. Oh goodness. Three days. I really like being home but I know it'll be okay once I get there. Oh, I should call Stephanie.

So yeah, check my road trip gallery!

Two Days Left of Break

~~~~Sooo Lazy
I'm terrible! I have two days left until I have to go back to the dreaded s-word and I haven't done anything I wanted to this break. Don't get me wrong, I've caught up on my sleep, spent quality time with my friends, and had time just for me. But when it came to doing the 4 labs I need to do and cleaning my room. Yeah, it just didn't happen. I should really do my labs still but I have this feeling it's not gonna happen. My zoology lab isn't due until next week. But while my A.P. Bio labs are due Monday my teacher just doesn't care. She's very easy when it comes to due dates and if I bring them in Tuesday it won't be the end of the world. I'll be more willing to work on homework once I get back to the s-place.
So, Happy New Year! I spent New Year's Eve with Tom. We went to Legacy Village for shopping. I got iSocks to keep my iPod in, some more incense, and a new burner. We also went to Borders to use a giftcard Tom had and the outlet mall to get Tom a new pair of sneakers. Then we came back home and played my Lord of the Rings computer game. I'm still terrible at that game! We also watched Space Balls and worked on a puzzle. It was a quiet evening but a nice way to spend a New Year.
